Seven tiles of various origin; one by Minton and Co., an unglazed, sandwich, plastic clay encaustic tile (patter #8 in Herbet Minton's first tile catalogue of 1842 and based on a Medieval design. American Encaustic of Zanesville, Ohio, made many copies of the Minton designs.; a tile by Maw and Co. (British) with geometric design in blue and black glazes; two examples of eight-sided forms by Rushmore Pottery (Black Hills, ND); a tile depicting an exotic bird made by the Broadmoor Art Potytery and Tile Co. (Colorado Springs, CO) and listed in Karlson, p.135; finally a polychrome terra cotta block by an unknown company (c. 1920). Largest 8" x 8"
